Sancho Van Ryan Talks About Working In The Las Vegas Entertainment Industry and Social Projects Like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

So many of my friends tell me how they want to get involved in a great local charity but don’t know where to begin.

If you have been looking for a way to contribute and give back to our community look no farther. Here is a simple list of my four top Charities right here in Las Vegas.

1. Three Square Food Bank

Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank providing food assistance to the residents of Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark Counties.

Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. We combine food banking (warehousing canned and boxed goods), food rescue (obtaining surplus or unused meats, bread, dairy and produce from hospitality and grocery outlets), and ready-to-eat meals to be the most complete food solution for Southern Nevada.

You can make a tax-deductible donation directly to Three Square HERE>> or you can join the Viva Vegas TV volunteers every week. We will be at the College Park Baptist Church, 2101 East Owens Ave, North Las Vegas, NV 89030 from 1-4pm every Tuesday afternoon. Donations of canned good and other non-perishable, sealed food items are greatly appreciated.

2. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a celebration of survivorship an occasion to express hope and our shared determination to make this breast cancer’s last century.

The fight to end breast cancer starts with a single step. Join millions of people in more than 300 communities nationwide and take that step with us at the American Cancer Society Making Strides of Las Vegas walk. Just a few hours of your time at our non-competitive, 5K (3.1 mile) event will help bring a lifetime of change for people facing breast cancer and their families.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month and the American Cancer Society holds a National walk to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Click Here to go to their page where you can sign up for the walk or make a dierct, tax-deductible donation. Viva Vegas TV will have a team of volunteers at the Las Vegas 5k walk event which is at Red Rock Casino on Sunday October 25th at 7:30 am. To join our team call or text us at: 702.379.9654

3. The Shade Tree

The Shade Tree was established in 1989 as Jubilee Ministries and, at the time, had little more to offer than safety, shelter, and cots (mostly to battered women) in the basement of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church. In 1990, diocese members, Junior League of Las Vegas, and the City of Las Vegas collaborated to establish a permanent shelter.  In December of that year, The Shade Tree opened in a building owned by Catholic Charities.

The Shade Tree is the largest shelter of its kind in the state, and is the only 24-hour accessible shelter designed specifically to meet the needs of women and children in Southern Nevada. With 364 permanent beds, The Shade Tree provides over 100,000 nights of shelter each year. On average, 33% of our clients are children under the age of 18. Senior citizens represent the fastest growing segment of our population.

4. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night® Walk funds research to advance therapies and treatments that are saving lives every day. Friends & family, children & seniors, neighbors & co-workers all have the power to walk to the end of cancer! This year’s event is in November, Click Here to register or call/message Viva Vegas TV on 702.379.9654 to join our team.

The nightlife in Las Vegas is an experience that is beyond extraordinary. So many people come to our beautiful city to experience it. Have you ever wondered who are the individuals that make these unforgettable night clubs be epic every weekend? Today I learned what happens to those that work in the nightlife once the sun comes up… and I can honestly say its pure light!

I had the pleasure of interviewing Sancho Van Ryan. Along with other young and active individuals in the nightlife scene, they have began a movement of charity projects. These guys have created a company in which not only they are able to promote and encourage themselves but they have made it a mission to help others in need. Sancho discussed his drive to help and how important it has become to him and his team.

Some of the charity projects discussed was their volunteer work at Three Square Food Bank, The Shade Tree, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Sancho and his team encourage others to join their volunteer work and help make Las Vegas even greater than it is now.

To learn more about Sancho and his team, listen to the entire interview Sunday, September 28th at 7am or visit their group’s website at www.futurem3dia.com
